Item Características de los donantes voluntarios frecuentes de sangre en la Cruz Roja de la ciudad de Cuenca, Cuenca- 2015(2016) García Galarza, Mónica Alexandra; Quituizaca Ortega, Yexenia Ebelina; Sichiqui Pauta, Lorena Nataly; Bermeo Vásquez, Zara Julieta; Aguilar Pesántez, Martina de JesúsBACKGROUND: Blood donation is a social necessity; hundreds of people daily, either by transplants, surgery, burns, illnesses or accidents where there is blood loss, need for blood transfusion. The number of blood donations in the country is not sufficient to cover the needs of the NHS. So that the country has timely access to blood, at least 2% of the population must be a donor according to the World Health Organization. But in Ecuador the figure is 1.42% according to the Ministry of Health until 2013. GENERAL PURPOSE: Determine the characteristics of frequent volunteer blood donors in the Red Cross of Cuenca, 2015. METHODOLOGY: It was a quantitative research. We worked with the finite universe of one hundred four frequent volunteer blood donors. The data were processed and analyzed in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and SPSS. The results are presented in tables. RESULTS: According to research carried out for three months, the universe was made up of people who came to your donation, we obtained that 72.1% of male, aged 18 to 27 years safeguard the altruistic action. That is why, most of the staff have healthy lifestyles and the quality of their blood is apt to be a donor. However there is deferred population, to present anemia or polycythemia
