Green areas are essential for the sustainability of cities; however, in many Latin American cities such as Cuenca, there is a considerable deficit in relation to the 9 m2 per inhabitant standard recommended by the WHO. This deficit continues to grow due to urban expansion, threatening both the well- being of the population and the ecological balance. This research analyzes the impact of urban densification on a section of Ordóñez Lasso Avenue in Cuenca, considering the transformation of permeable spaces, its relationship with climate change, and the quality of public space. The indicators proposed in the study " Evaluando la sustentabilidad de la densificación urbana " will be used to measure the urban growth model in the study area. Additionally, a chronological comparison of green area coverage will be conducted, identifying the changes caused by densification over time. Based on the collected data, the research aims to highlight the environmental consequences of the current development model, such as increased local temperatures and the reduction of ecosystem benefits. As a response, a "city landscape" model will be proposed in a representative area of the study, prioritizing the recovery of permeable surfaces and the incorporation of trees. This proposal, supported by data and intervention criteria and illustrated through photomontages, seeks to offer a replicable model for other areas of the city and to demonstrate the feasibility of green infrastructure strategies to mitigate the negative effects of densification and promote spatial well-being within the city.
