Item Prevalencia de violencia de género y sus factores de riesgo en el Centro de Apoyo a la Mujer y la Familia "Las Marías", Cantón Gualaceo-Azuay en el periodo 2010-2013(2015) Parra Bonilla, Liliana Carolina; Quiroz Bravo, Byron Fernando; Rodas Rivera, María Caridad; Vega Crespo, Bernardo JoséObjective: To determine the prevalence of violence in all forms in women who attended the Support Centre for Women and Family: “Las Marías” at Gualaceo, province of Azuay, in the time period 2010 - 2013. Methodology: A descriptive, cross-sectional, non-experimental study was conducted, in a total of 451 users; data on age, residence, occupation, marital status, aggressor, place of the aggression and type of violence suffered were collected. The data collected was processed in the SPSS software. The results are presented in frequency tables. Results: The prevalence of gender violence is higher in younger women (51,00% are under 30 years old), from rural areas (62,75%), housewives (37,64%), whom are married (37,69%), who had not suffered previous vio-lence (50,73%), who have a limited educational level (from illiterate to complete elementary school, account for the 69,41% of the population). Conclusions: The predominant type of violence is the physical violence (86,47%), followed by the patrimonial type (78,49%) and the psychologi-cal type (68,74%). The aggression primarily comes from the husband or the partner (50,33%) and the ex-partner (25,50%) of the victim. The most common situation that triggers the violent behavior of the aggressor is the alcohol/drug abuse (50,78%). The psychological consequences are the most prevalent (49,00% reported anxiety and other 34,59% depressive states). Therefore, it can be concluded that gender violence is a frequent social problem that manifests primarily in the family environment of the victim; it affects very young women, mainly from the rural areas, with a low educational level.
