Frecuencia de depresión, ansiedad y estrés mediante la escala Dass–21 en médicos posgradistas del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, Cuenca-2020.

BACKGROUND. Depression affects millions of people around the world and has claimed thousands of lives. In 2012 it was proclaimed a global emergency by the World Health Organization (WHO). Globally, around 264 million people suffer from anxiety disorders. In different meta-analysis, excess of stress has been related with mental health deterioration. Nowadays, there is no updated information about mental health in postgraduate medical students from Cuenca - Ecuador. OBJECTIVES. To determine the frequency of depression, anxiety and stress using the DASS - 21 scale in postgraduate medical students at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital in 2020. METHODS. A descriptive study was carried out on October 2020. It included postgraduate medical students who were working at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital in October 2020. Some variables were studied as: sex, age, marital status, specialty, current postgraduate year, personal history of previous illnesses, depression, anxiety and stress. A database was created in Microsoft Excel where tables of frequencies and percentages were exposed. RESULTS. A total of 61 postgraduate students participated, most of them were women. The frequency of depression was 31 cases (50, 8 %), the anxiety frequency was 42 cases (68, 8 %) and the frequency of stress was 29 cases (47, 5 %). CONCLUSIONS. The frequency of depression, anxiety and stress in postgraduate medical students at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital exceeded the results that were obtained in other national and international research, with higher levels of anxiety, followed by depression and stress.
