(2018) Quiridumbay Guallpa, Cristian Geovany; Molina Loyola, Ruth Cecilia
Analysis research management and treatment of information on environmental issues by Diario El Mercurio and Diario El Tiempo during the months of May and June 2017. It aims to know what treatment they give these media to information that has to do with the environment. For the results of this research a content analysis of the news stories of both papers depending on the categories and variables that were established on the basis of environmental and journalistic concepts was made. This allowed to establish a relationship between environment-journalism and process information more rigorously. The categories were established: environmental issues, section, journalistic genre, information sources, treatment and contextualizing information. The topics of the theoretical framework allowed analyze the results based on the theoretical foundation, since the issue of the environmental crisis is addressed, the government response to environmental problems, the main environmental problems, the theoretical foundation of environmental journalism and journalism specialized. Finally the results allowed to compare and differentiate between the two media, noting that showed greater similarities than differences. Daily newspaper El Mercurio and the time address environmental issues with the same features that address any other issue, giving it more informative approach. Therefore topics on the environment lack depth and contextualization.
