Intención emprendedora para los investigadores de la Universidad de Cuenca
(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-07-22) Quinde Vicente, Jonnathan Steven; Peña González, Silvia Alexandra
The present study aims to evaluate the level of entrepreneurial intention of researchers at the University of Cuenca, whose research projects and derived products/services have the potential to be transferred to society. This is intended to better understand their reality, their strengths, and weaknesses to develop a scientific and technological entrepreneurship, as well as their perception of barriers and risk in the environment and at the HEI (Higher Education Institution) level at the time of entrepreneurship. To achieve this objective, an evaluation instrument with 93 questions was developed and validated by experts in the field of entrepreneurship through the Delphi method. The evaluation was based on a series of parameters on three profiles: demographic, scientific and entrepreneurial. This evaluation instrument was applied to 178 researchers selected by means of purposive probability sampling. The results obtained indicate that the entrepreneurial intention is in a medium level, with a score of 54.48 out of 100 points. The researchers show interest in developing their own ideas, desire for economic independence and promoting technological development, but are negatively influenced by the perception of risk at the economic level in case of failure, the barriers that exist to access funding sources, the complexity of the administrative processes at the government level to create a company and the bureaucracy at the HEI level.
