Item Experiencias de mujeres con depresión postparto de la Carrera de Enfermería de la Universidad de Cuenca 2023-2024(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-04-23) Quezada Quezada, Lisley Leonela; Zhumi Sucuzhañay, Shirley Thalia; Fárez Orrego, Ximena AngélicaPostpartum depression is a mental disorder that affects some women after childbirth. It is characterized by feelings of deep sadnees, anexiety, extreme tiredness, mood swings and lack of interest in previously pleasurable activities. This disorder can last between 40 weeks of gestation, or even after the birth of the baby. If not treated in time, it would negatively affect the quality of life of the woman and her family and, on the other hand, it hinders the mother-child bond. In order to find out though real testimonies what are the experiences lived by women during this period five women were interviewed from the University of Cuenca in the year 2023-2024. It became evident that the women interviewed experienced multiple changes, specifically changes in their libido, loneliness and various challenges as women mothers, students, workers, professionals and relationships. In conclusion, it is proven that postpartum depression has a significant impact on women’s mental and emotional health. Currently, society, should raise awareness among the general population that postpartum depression is present in women who have an active academic and working life, and that when they suffer it, it can lead to long-term complications.
