Item Patrones alimenticios de la población del cantón "El Tambo", 2016(2017) Quezada Miranda, Edgar Lizandro; Rivera Robles, César Eduardo; Achig Balarezo, David Ricardo; Mosquera Vallejo, Lorena ElizabethBackground. - Ecuador is a country where there are different cultures, traditions, which can be modified over time. The canton "El Tambo" located in the province of Cañar is a clear example of this as it is recognized for its history and cultural richness. The present investigation was carried out to determine the food patterns in Tambo. Related studies have been conducted in the country, but none in this canton. Objective. - Identify the food patterns of the inhabitants of "El Tambo". Methodology. - A quantitative, cross-sectional descriptive study was used. The sample was calculated with a heterogeneity of 50%, a margin of error of 8% and a confidence level of 95%, obtaining a total of 150 heads of households, the same ones that were Drawn through the EPI DAT version 3.1 program with the selection of the sampling command, data were of the area. Conclusion. - The food patterns of El Tambo show that there is a high consumption of carbohydrates, less consumption of proteins, vegetables, fruits and, fats. collected through the Food Consumption Frequency Survey and 24-hour Reminder. SPSS and Microsoft Excel were used to create a database for tabulation. Results. - 81.3% of heads of families were female, 36.7% were between 45 and 64 years of age. 69.4% ingest more than 1500 kcal per day. 76.0% of consumption corresponds to potato, rice (64.7%) and maize (32.7%). The orange and apple are of greater consumption with the 42,0 and 38,0% respectively. 55.3% consume chicken between 4 to 6 pounds for 2 to 3 times a week and to a lesser extent meat remainder. 52% sow in plots and 51.3% consume their crop. 32.0% of the respondents seldom consume from stores and 77.3% still make purchases in the popular markets
