Item Percepción de la ansiedad en situaciones académicas de estudiantes de primer ciclo de la Facultad de Psicología, período 2023-2024(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-07-09) Quezada Contreras, Jorge Alejandro; Morales Quizhpi, Juana AgustinaAnxiety can affect the academic development of university students, considering social factors related to the evolutionary stage and the demands they face in terms of academics. According to the WHO (2017), currently about 264 million people suffer from an anxiety disorder in their lifetime, and constantly deal with the effects of having this mental illness. This research aims to determine the perception that first-cycle students of the Faculty of Psychology have about anxiety in academic situations and their experiences with it, it has a qualitative approach with narrative scope, cross section and hermeneutic-phenomenological method. The data were collected through sociodemographic sheets, focus groups and non- standardized individual semi-structured interviews, which gave rise to the analysis of thedata through grounded theory. The results indicate that the perception of high anxiety indicators among students is perceived mainly in situations of social exposure, also at the time of being evaluated and when having to do group work; this relates to the study category of triggers within the classroom. It was identified that academic overload, poor relationships whit classmates, incorrect feedback from teachers and evaluative moments reinforce these anxious episodes and foster a stressful environment situation where students do not have the sufficient and expected tools to cope in everyday life.
