Item Tendencias productivas y reproductivas del hato lechero en la granja "IRQUIS"(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-04-08) Astudillo Pacheco, Diana Estefanía; Pulla Zhiminaycela, Wilson Daniel; Nieto Escandón, Pedro EmilioThe analysis of the productive and reproductive trends at the "IRQUIS" livestock farm of the University of Cuenca focused on evaluating the productive and reproductive behavior of a dairy herd. The specific objectives of the research are, on one hand, to describe the productive and reproductive indices managed at the "IRQUIS" livestock farm, in order to gain detailed knowledge of performance in these areas, and, on the other hand, to identify the main causes of low performance in these areas, in order to establish strategies to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the farm's productive and reproductive process. Through descriptive statistics, key variables were analyzed, such as the number of cows in production, the amount of milk produced per cow, the birth rate, and the mortality of calves and adults, in addition to forage and health parameters. The results from 2022 and 2023 showed an increase in milk production, with an increase of 1,167.4 liters/ha/year, but also revealed problems in the reproductive cycle, such as a low percentage of cows in milking and an inefficient reproductive cycle. This limited the farm's profitability, which suffered from low efficiency in forage production, animal overloading, and inadequate resource management, which affected the health of the animals and the quality of the milk. The research concluded that poor management in areas such as health, feeding, environment, and economy negatively impacted the productive and reproductive indices, jeopardizing the farm's sustainability. Additionally, the lack of an adequate record-keeping system hindered an accurate evaluation of the farm.
