Item Determinantes sociales que influyen en la neumonía en niños menores de 5 años que acudieron al Subcentro de Salud de Ricaurte en el periodo de enero2010-diciembre 2013(2015) Ordoñez Cedillo, Jenny Tatiana; Paida Cuzco, Lourdes Susana; Pulla Pulla, Marcia Maribel; Montaño Peralta, Bertha SorayaBackground: Pneumonia is the single greatest cause of infant mortality worldwide. It is estimated that each year kills about 1.1 million children under five, representing 18% of all deaths of children under five worldwide. Caused by viruses, bacteria or fungi, this can be prevented by immunization, adequate nutrition and by controlling environmental and social factors. Objective: To identify the social determinants that influence pneumonia in children under 5 years attending the Sub Health Center Ricaurte Parish, Cuenca January 2010 - December 2013. Methods: A descriptive retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted; the universe consisted of 80 children under 5 years attending the SCS Ricaurte. The research techniques used were interviews, observation and document review; the instruments used were registration form, interview form. The results were analyzed in simple tables using Word programs. Excel and SPSS version 21 Results: In this study we report that social determinants associated with pneumonia in children less than 5 years of age in our population are 52.5% inadequate breastfeeding, malnutrition, 36.3%, 57.5% associated with illnesses, bad economic situation 35%, 22.5% overcrowding Conclusions: At the end of this paper provide scientific input on the determinants that are most closely associated with the prevalence of pneumonia in our population which serve as the basis for taking appropriate preventive measures against this disease that is the leading cause neutral care population.
