    Modos de vida de los adultos mayores que acuden al Subcentro de salud Tarqui del Cantón Cuenca 2014-2015

    Background. In Ecuador, 9.3% of the populations are seniors. The demographic trend, the characteristics of extension of life expectancy, limited access to consumer goods and social services, seniors make a vulnerable group. Objective: To identify the ways of life in older adults who come to the Health Sub-center parish Tarqui Canton Cuenca. Materials and Methods. - Research is a qualitative - quantitative type of study was descriptive. The universe consisted of 150 older adults (sample = 62). Research techniques were kind of qualitative (focus group) and quantitative (observation and interview). The information processing was performed using Microsoft Excel. Results. - The results show the situation of the elderly in relation to the ways of life: 63% are unemployed without means of subsistence, third no retirement pension or paid work, are in poverty. 25.7% are agricultural workers, their consumption is characterized by incomplete poor housing, a high percentage (65%) are primary, in rural areas 27% have high levels of illiteracy; this condition affects health and disease characterized by skeletal and heart muscle problems. Conclusions.- Most seniors of the parish Tarqui modes are unsuitable life, that negatively influence health and disease, determining the characteristic pathological profile of this age group
