Background: Optimal health is achieved through physical activity, which involves the consumption of energy substrates. Among university students, time is the main limiting factor for physical activity, and this can affect cardiovascular health and academic performance. Objective: To determine the level of physical activity and cardiovascular response in Physiotherapy students at the University of Cuenca. Methodology: A quantitative, descriptive-observational study was conducted with 108 university students. The instruments used were the short version of the IPAQ questionnaire and the Ruffier-Dickson test. SPSS version 22 was used for data analysis and tabulation, analyzing frequencies, percentages, measures of central tendency, and dispersion for categorical and quantitative variables, respectively. Fisher's exact test was used to measure the association between variables, considering a statistical significance level of p < 0.05. Results: 72.2% of participants were women, predominantly aged 21 to 24 years (56%). Overall, 62% of students engaged in moderate physical activity, with 65% exhibiting a low cardiovascular response. Their BMI was within normal ranges in 73% of cases. No statistically significant relationship was found between the main study variables (p > 0.05). Conclusions: The results obtained regarding physical activity levels and cardiovascular response are inconsistent, showing a moderate level of physical activity but with a low response to physical exertion, which is inconsistent with the available literature.
