The main goal of this project is to analyze the environment developed by the coach to motivate young athletes of the Independiente del Valle soccer school in the city of Cuenca. Pretending to know the goals that have been emphasized by the coach related to Task and ego, the objective involves players when practicing a sport and describes the causes that lead towards any type of these goals. Therefore, the motivational environment perceived by the athletes is evaluated using a Perceived Motivational Climate in Sport Questionnaire (Cuestionario de Clima Motivacional Percibido en el Deporte) for team sports (Newton, Duda and Yin, 2000). To carry out this study, athletes ranging between 12 – 16 years belonging to the cadet category of the Independiente del Valle soccer school with sporting experience from multiple championships qualify. Surveys are applied virtually due to the SARS-CoV2 health crisis that prevents the gathering of large groups of people. The test starts by contacting the coaches of each category, gathering the majority of players through a meeting scheduled by the Zoom platform. Once the meeting is organized, the process of the survey is explained in detail, with which it is asked if participants are willing to collaborate in this research project. This study is proposed as an investigation of general interest, providing guidelines that favor coaches searching for a better sporting experience for young athletes; therefore, promoting the importance of creating this optimal motivational environment to achieve better results at a personal and sporting level.
