Implementación de un programa interdisciplinario e integral de actividad física en la escuela Isaac Chico
(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-01-14) Placencia Guerrero, Vicente Olmedo; Barreto Andrade, Jorge Antonio
Physical inactivity, known as a sedentary lifestyle, represents a significant global health challenge. This research evaluated the impact of a comprehensive interdisciplinary physical activity program, based on the Project Based Learning (PBL) methodology and with the participation of families, on seventh grade students at the “Isaac Chico” School. The research adopted a quasiexperimental design with a quantitative and longitudinal approach. The sample, selected by convenience, was separated into two groups: Parallel "A" (control group) and Parallel "B" (intervention group). Two measurement instruments were used: the "Physical Activity Level Questionnaire" and the "Parental Control of Internet Use Questionnaire during Adolescence." Before the implementation of the program, the diagnosis revealed that 67% of the students in the control group had a moderate level of physical activity, while in the intervention group this percentage was 81.82%. Regarding parental control of Internet use, 95.83% of parents in the control group demonstrated low control, compared to 77.27% in the intervention group. After the intervention, the percentage of students with a high level of physical activity (AFA) increased from 9.09% to 22.73%, while the levels of moderate (AFM) and low physical activity (AFB) decreased. Additionally, the level of parental control over Internet use improved, with the mean increasing from 7.27 to 10.59. In contrast, the control group showed no significant changes. In conclusion, the "Activamente" program increased physical activity and improved parental control over Internet use in students
