Indeed, in late adulthood, depression has become normalized as a part of aging,i.e., it is a common mood disorder in the older adult population, so it is often not recognized and cannot be treated in time. That is why, in this research, the general objective was to identify the levels of depression in older adults of the Santa Ana Foundation of Cuenca, period 2021. Also, thespecific objective was to determine the levels of depression according to sociodemographic variables. On the other hand, a quantitative approach was used with a descriptive scope, concomitant with a non-experimental and cross-sectional design. The population consisted of all the older adults of the Santa Ana Foundation, giving a total of 32 persons. The instruments used toobtain the levels of depression were: the Geriatric Depression Scale Questionnaire of Yesavage (GDS-15) with a Cronbach ́s alpha of 0.92 and the sociodemographic card.
