Item Actinic cheilitis: clinical, pathological and therapeutic considerations(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-06-06) Pinos Gavilanes, María Paz; Pinos Gavilanes, Daniel Esteban; Bravo Calderón, Diego Mauriciocheilitis (AC) is a chronic inflammation that affects more frequently to the lower lip and is considered as a potentially malignant disorder that could develop into squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). AC is caused by excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, mainly sunlight radiation. Fair-skinned male patients, older than 50 years, who have worked outdoors or have had long-term sunlight exposure are more susceptible to develop this lesion. Their clinical manifestations are very varied; nevertheless, they are not related to the histopathological alterations that can be found. Histopathological diagnosis is the most important predictive factor of malignant transformation, depending on the severity of epithelial dysplasia. The characteristics of the AC are reviewed, so the clinician can provide optimal care to the patient and prevent lip cancer. The literature review was performed analyzing articles from PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar and Cochrane databases.Publication Estilos de afrontamiento de padres de niños con fisura labio-alveolo-palatina en los Andes Centrales del Ecuador (Cuenca-Ambato)(2025) Cazar Almache, Marcelo Enrique; Pinos Gavilanes, María Paz; Palacios Coello, Ruth Fabiola; Lucio Bravo, Miriam Alexandra; Quito, María PazItem Manejo estético del sector anterosuperior. In the last 50 years the number of cases of maxillary OM has decreased due to an improvement in oral hygiene, however, its complication is still relevant. The purpose of this paper is to present a case report of a patient with mandibular osteomyelitis and to analyze the literature on this conditionPublication Queratoquiste Odontogénico de amplia dimensión: reporte de caso(2020) Cazar Almache, Marcelo Enrique; Torres Calle, María Fernanda; Pinos Gavilanes, María Paz; Castillo Yaguana, Darwin Vicente; Cárdenas Campoverde, Juan DiegoOdontogenic keratocyst (OKC) is a lesion which origin is the dental epithelium,it has a predilection for presenting itself in the posterior portion of the mandible and is considered one of the most common lesions within odontogeniccysts. The following study presents a case of Odontogenic Keratocyst of a large dimension. A female patient presents with inflammatory symptoms at the level of the jaw. In the intraoral physical examination a palpation test was performed and together withradiographic examinations, in which a multilocular radiolucent image of 8x3 cm was determined. Subsequently, a biopsy was performed and the histology was compatible with Odontogenic Keratocyst. This article reviews the etiopathogenesis, clinical, radiographic, histopathological, immunohistochemical and treatment; with the aim of describing the importance of this lesion due to its ability to reach large dimensions and present high recurrence. Therefore, it is important to make a correct diagnosis that allowsto establish an adequate treatment plan for this lesion
