The psychological characteristics of athletes play a crucial role in sports performance, affecting both individual performance and collective dynamics. This study aimed to describe the psychological characteristics of 35 footballers from the UCuenca Football Club of the University of Cuenca during the period 2024-2025, analyzing their relationship with performance in a competitive context. The research used a quantitative approach, with a non- experimental and cross-sectional design. For data collection, the questionnaire "Psychological Characteristics Related to Sports Performance (CPRD)" was used, which evaluates five dimensions: stress control, mental ability, influence of performance evaluation, group cohesion and motivation, complemented by a sociodemographic form. The results showed a predominance in mental ability, linked to quick decision making and sustained concentration, and in motivation, understood as the drive and persistence to optimize performance. However, low scores were observed in group cohesion, which could indicate a weak emotional bond between team members, possibly affecting collective dynamics and the achievement of joint goals. These findings highlight the importance of integrating specific psychological strategies to strengthen group cohesion and maximize overall sporting performance.
