Water for human consumption is a vital resource for society, therefore, it is necessary to apply a treatment to this resource so that it does not represent a risk to consumer health. The rural community Namza Grande, is located on the Huigra parish, Alausi Canton, Chimborazo province, does not have drinking water, therefore, the need arises to design a water treatment plant for human consumption so that the community can meet its basic needs. This treatment plant will use a spring as the main source of water and an irrigation canal as a complementary source, because in times of drought the water from the spring dramatically decreases its flow and is not enough to supply the entire community. In this context, the present degree thesis contains the laboratory analyzes of water and soil, the hydraulic and structural design of the elements of the treatment plant, the system operation and maintenance manual, the budget and the construction plans.
