Item Asociación entre la inteligencia emocional y la ansiedad en odontólogos del Distrito 01d04-Chordeleg-Gualaceo del Ministerio de Salud Pública, 2023-2024(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-10-04) Vanegas Vásconez, Mónica Bernarda; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaThe thoughts and actions of human beings are governed – among other factors in their lives – by the development and formation of the ability of emotional intelligence; This is necessary to achieve adaptation to everyday events to promote interpersonal relationships and become an antidote to violence. However, the ability to manage and discriminate emotions can be affected when signs, symptoms and syndromes related to them occur. anxiety, especially in work spaces that care for the population in health, both public and private. The objective of this research is to determine the association between emotional intelligence and anxiety of dentists in District 01d04-Chordeleg-Gualaceo of the Ministry of Public Health in 2023-2024. We worked with the population of 49 dentists, chosen through a probabilistic sample. and intentional sampling. The study had a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental design and a correlational scope. A sociodemographic form was used to identify variables of sex, length of work, marital status and city of origin. For the emotional intelligence score, the WLEIS-S scale was used, which measures the dimensions, evaluation of one's own emotions (SAE), evaluation of others' emotions (OAS), use of emotion (UOE) and regulation of emotions. emotion (ROE). And for anxious symptoms, the Zung Anxiety Scale. The results formed an information base with emotional intelligence scores according to the four dimensions, with predominance, of emotion regulation. Regarding anxiety, it has been determined that the study population is at a minimal to moderate level of anxiety and there is a statistically significant association between both variables in dentists. In conclusion, the study allows us to determine that: the higher the emotional intelligence score, the lower the level of anxiety in the District's dentists.Item Autoestima y Centro Especializado en el Tratamiento de Adicciones Voluntad y Fortaleza de Cuenca en el periodo 2022 – 2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-05-25) Aguaiza Baño, Andrea Maricela; Añazco Paladines, Juliana Pauleth; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaSelf-esteem and resilience are little-studied variables in adult patients who present a problematic alcohol use and other substances as well. Studies both nationally and internationally show that users tend to have average to medium-low self-esteem and resilience. Although the two variables have been studied separately, this research aims to provide information on both variables together. Therefore, the objective is to describe the levels of self-esteem and resilience according to the age and type of substance consumed by the users of the Specialized Addiction Treatment Center “Voluntad y Fortaleza” in Cuenca in the time-period 2022-2023. The study has a quantitative approach, type of non-experimental, cross-sectional design and descriptive scope. We worked with a population of 34 inmates with substance use disorder. The applied instruments were the Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale adapted to Spanish by Novella, the Rosenberg Self- esteem Scale and a sociodemographic file made by the authors. The obtained results were high levels of self-esteem, with a predominance of the positive dimension and the substance of alcohol consumption in early and middle adulthood. Regarding resilience, high levels are evident in early adulthood and medium levels in middle adulthood. Personal satisfaction and perseverance dimensions predominate.Item Dependencia emocional en relación de pareja en estudiantes de la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de Cuenca. Año 2020(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-10-28) Pinos Sarmiento, Maritza Estefanía; Cumbe Jadán, Gabriela Maribel; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaThe emotional dependence as one of the psychosocial factors that constitutes a problem generated within an abusive and possessive environment; it manifests itself in relationships based on inequality, submission and demands, where the dependent person shows excessive attachment to another person, in order to satisfy their emotional needs. Faced with this situation, the general objective of this research is to determine the relationship between emotional dependence in couple relationships and socio-demographic variables, as well as to determine the factors of emotional dependence which prevail in students of the School of Psychology of the University of Cuenca and establish differences according to sex, age, career, cycle, couple status, number of children, ethnic self-identification, place of origin, place of residence, family of origin and employment. This study has a quantitative approach, of correlational and transversal scope, with a non-experimental design. The participants are students of the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Cuenca, in the careers of Clinical, Social, educational and Psychology degree, during the period March-July 2020. Two instruments were used for the information gathering: a sociodemographic sheet and Questionnaire of Emotional Dependence. Among the main results, it is evident that the students under study present a low level of emotional dependence. Therein, the factors: Affective expression of the couple and Attention seeking prevail, and the sociodemographic variables included in the Emotional Dependence are sex, age, socioeconomic condition and number of children.Item Estrés y burnout en docentes de la Facultad de Psicología(2018) Palacios Sánchez, Byron Mauricio; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaThe principal objective of this research carried out at the University of Cuenca was to shed some light on the level of mental health and well-being by determining the presence of stress and burnout levels in the Faculty of Psychology teaching staff. Participants were 42 teachers, 16 men, and 26 women. The applied methodology had a quantitative approach, with a cross-cutting descriptive scope and a non-experimental design. Perceived Stress Scale was used to determine stress levels and the Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey to measure the burnout. Both scales showed favorable results with regard to their validity and reliability with this population (>0.84α,>0.80α). Descriptive statistics such as frequency tables and cross-tables were used for data analysis. Results showed that the studied population presented a low level of stress. Most of the participants did not present actual burnout syndrome but high levels of emotional exhaustion, average levels of cynicism and high levels of professional efficiency were observed. As a conclusion, it can be stated that the teachers are affected by the pressures of their environment, hence the importance of studying these phenomena in depth can serve as the basis for future research. It is recommended to develop an intervention plan to reduce teaching staff exhaustion levels in order to improve their well-being, optimize the quality of the performance of their activities, help in their physical and mental health and interpersonal relationships.Item Funcionalidad familiar de adolescentes que presentan conducta adictiva(2018) Naula Chimbo, Milton Fernando; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaFamily is considered as the support network and as a care unit within society, is the basic unit for the development and experience of failures that teenagers could have, both in illness and health; therefore, evaluate the family functioning has become a fundamental factor to understand how this process are present in the human being. These, among other reasons, constitute the main motivation for this research that aimed to describe the familiar functionality of teenage boys with addictive behavior of the therapeutic community Hogar Crecer of Checa town in the Cuenca city. The study had a quantitative approach, a non-experimental design with a cross-sectional descriptive scope. Two instruments were used: the perception family APGAR test and the evaluation scale FACES III of Olson, which were applied to 31 adolescents that were threated in the above mentioned therapeutic community. The results have shown that nearly one-third of the families are classified as chaotic, which indicates a level of family functioning according to the variable high adaptability. In addition, more than half are unrelated families, which corresponds to a low level of family functioning in relation to the variable cohesion. It was determined, in general aspects, that almost the half of the overall amount of participants belong to a balanced family and a similar amount of participants perceived a moderated family functioning.Item Inteligencia emocional en docentes de la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de Cuenca en el periodo 2018-2019(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-08-20) Quezada Soto, Sandra Belén; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaTeaching is considered to be one of the most stressful professions, especially because it implies a work of daily pressure, based on social interactions in which the teacher must make a great effort to know, understand and properly manage not only his or her own emotions but also those of students, colleagues, among others. This was the main motivation behind the research, since it is sometimes thought that only cognitive skills are needed and that affectivity and emotional skills are not so essential in teachers. The objective of this study was to describe the emotional intelligence of teachers at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Cuenca; it is framed in a quantitative approach, type of non-experimental design, descriptive and transversal scope. The participants were 31 teachers from the four careers, which made up the study population. A socio-demographic card and the WLEIS-S emotional intelligence scale were used as research instruments. Among the results, it was determined that the general emotional intelligence of psychology teachers scored higher in the dimensions of evaluation and use of one's own emotions, evidencing a high intermediate general emotional intelligence; the highest figures were evidenced in female teachers, with a doctoral level of training, with an occasional hiring modality and, in part-time work, in the developmental stage of the elderly and with a service time of 97 to 324 months. In conclusion, there is an adequate management of emotional intelligence in the teachers of the School of Psychology, thus demonstrating that the majority of the subjects of study present the expected result to face the different situations that teaching requires of them.Item Inteligencia emocional en pacientes miembros de la Fundación Casa de la Diabetes Cuenca – Ecuador(2017) Parra Peralta, Adrián Marcelo; Ramírez Gallardo, Roberth Luis; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaThis research follows a non-experimental design, descriptive scope with a quantitative approach. It has general objective describe the level of emotional intelligence in patients with diabetes of the Foundation House of Diabetes in Cuenca, identifying the dimensions or subscales of emotional perception, emotional understanding and emotional regulation. The population was selected to convenience and was composed of 40 patients, there were 26 women and 14 men; age referred to adults between 20 and 65 years, classified in early adulthood, middle and late, and by diabetes type one or type two. Spanish Version Espinoza, Sanhueza, Ramirez and Saez of the Trait Meta-Mood Scale-24 originally made by Salovey and Mayer was used for data collection. Results provide more than half of the studied population have adequate levels in three dimensions, which is a good indication of emotional intelligence, i.e. that identify their emotions, understand them and regulate them, so that they can maintain a good state of mind.Item Inteligencia emocional y ansiedad en usuarios de los Centros Especializados en Tratamiento de Adicciones Voluntad y Fortaleza y Centro Terapéutico Amor y Vida, de Cuenca, en el período 2022-2023(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-07-25) Saguay Paltín, Silvia Paola; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaAddiction to psychoactive substances is closely related to anxiety and emotional intelligence. Thus, the person may turn to drug use to deal with anxiety before falling into addiction or leaving it; and a low level of emotional intelligence indicates a more frequent and problematic drug use. The general objective of this research was to describe the dimensions of emotional intelligence and anxiety levels in users with problematic drug use according to sociodemographic variables such as age, marital status, educational level, substance consumed and number of hospitalizations in Specialized Centers for Treatment for People with Problematic Consumption of Alcohol and other drugs Voluntad y Fortaleza and Centro Terapéutico Amor y Vida. The study had a quantitative approach, a non-experimental, crosssectional design type, and a descriptive scope. We worked with a population of 40 people, who have drug addiction. The instruments applied were the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS-S), the Zung Anxiety Self-Assessment Scale and a sociodemographic file made by the author. As results, it was obtained that the anxiety levels that predominate in the users were mostly normal. In relation to the dimensions of emotional intelligence, they scored at medium high levels. This group has an average age of 30 years, most of whom are in their first hospitalization.Item Percepción de estudiantes respecto a la creación de Cátedra Abierta en Educación Emocional para potenciar felicidad(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-02-05) Vanegas Vásconez, Mónica Bernarda; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaThis research explored the perception of students of the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Cuenca, about the need to create an open chair of emotional education to enhance happiness; this study identified the concept of happiness and ways to encourage it, as well as understanding the knowledge that subjects of research have about emotions, the open chair and the value of self-control of emotions through emotional education. The study participants are 24 students enrolled in cycles between the fourth and tenth, of the three careers: clinical, educational and social; the study has a qualitative approach, with a phenomenological type design and exploratory scope. The technique applied was focus group. The most relevant results or findings point to the emerging categories, subcategories and categories expressed in the analysis of information such as happiness, emotional education, emotions, open chair, as well as needs, knowledge, beneficiaries, among others, achieve the objectives set out and answer the research questions, and are also interrelated and complement each other. In conclusion, the need to create an open chair of emotional education to foster happiness for students in the psychology faculty of the University of Cuenca is evident.Item Percepción de estudiantes respecto a la felicidad en la Universidad de Cuenca.(2018) Parra Parra, Miriam Patricia; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaThe human being through time has aspired to achieve happiness, this can be defined as a state of fullness of being, which translates into inner peace, personal satisfaction, achievement of goals. University student studies on happiness have shown that the perception of a state of happiness has a favorable impact on the academic and personal performance of students. It is for this reason that studying the perception of happiness in university students is the main reason for the present investigation, which aimed to describe the perception of happiness that students of the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Cuenca have. The approach is qualitative, with a Phenomenological cross-sectional research design and an exploratory scope. The participants were the students of the three psychology careers of the University of Cuenca; we worked with a sample of 12 students from the seventh to the tenth cycle of the three careers: clinical, educational and social psychology of the University of Cuenca. The student representatives of each cycle were interviewed -three for each cycle-. Students give importance to personal security and a state of balance from inner plenitude, as fundamental pieces to achieve happiness, also related to interpersonal relationships, achievements, successes, as well as the possibility of making decisions in freedom. The family relationship was considered as support, assessment and acceptance. Interpersonal relationships are important as a space for socialization.Item Percepción de los adultos mayores respecto a sus necesidades y realidades psicosociales. Parroquia Sayausí(2019-11-22) Cabrera Delgado, Juan Andrés; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaThe present research explores the perception of the main needs and psychosocial realities of the elderly in the rural parish of Sayausí in the canton Cuenca. Although there is research on the human problem of physical illness and cognitive impairment in this age group, other variables that show how the day-to-day life of this priority care group within the family and society unfolds deserve to be better researched. This study is framed in a qualitative approach with a descriptive scope. Nineteen older adults from the Amando la Vida group participated, along with home visits from four communities. Two techniques were applied: the semistructured interview to explore the perception of their needs and realities. In conclusion, the parish of Sayausí is of many ages, those who require attention so that they can satisfy their needs from the realities that do not always find an adequate correspondence.Item Percepciones de docentes y padres de familia en torno a la educación virtual del nivel de preparatoria de la Unidad Educativa Julio María Matovelle, período lectivo 2021-2022(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-11-07) Lazo Alvarez, Erika Michelle; Songor Quizhpi, Jenny Susana; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaThe COVID-19 pandemic has generated radical changes in many spheres of human life, education being one of the most affected by the recurrent closure of educational institutions and the resounding change from face-to-face to virtuality. In this regard, various perceptions have been generated by educational actors about the teaching-learning processes received by children during virtual classes. The objective of this study was to describe the perceptions held by teachers and parents of the high school level regarding the teaching-learning processes under a virtual modality in the Julio María Matovelle Educational Unit during the 2021-2022 school year. A qualitative approach was used, with a phenomenological design; the techniques used were semi-structured interviews and a documentary review of the children's learning during the virtual and face-to-face education; 4 teachers and 8 parents from the morning and afternoon sessions participated; for reasons of confidentiality, their identities are kept confidential. Regarding the results, the perceptions of the teachers and parents were similar, they mentioned that virtual education was a difficult time for the teaching and learning of the children at the high school level, it affected them academically, personally, socially and emotionally. It is concluded that teachers and parents consider virtual education as an ineffective method to work with the children, and that it had a significant influence on everyone because it did not allow an integral development of the students as a face-to-face education would have done.Item Percepciones de estudiantes de Psicología respecto a la teoría y metodología de la inteligencia emocional(2019-07-01) Villazhiñay Matute, Ana Lucía; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaEmotional intelligence it is of even more relevant meaning in the educational field, just where the student is disposed and open to learning, and the teacher is ready to teach. This study offers a general review of the emergence of theories and main models of emotional intelligence. The general objective is to identify students’ perception of the careers in Psychology at the University of Cuenca, in terms of theoretical and methodological conceptions regarding the emotional intelligence construct. The study had a qualitative approach, as the information collected was systemized as referred to the subjects of the investigation in correspondence with the explored variables; the scope was of the exploratory type and phenomenological type design. The techniques used included discussion in focus groups and structured interviews; the first were formed by the president or the class representative, as well as a randomly selected man and woman, alternately and the interview was only between presidents from the last cycle. The relevant results show that most of the students relate the identification of emotions with gestural verbal and non-verbal affective states that describe how they feel with themselves and the environment. The difference between the careers is that, the clinical careers have a better understanding regarding theory and methodology; while social and educational careers showed less clarity in the explored knowledge of emotional intelligence. It is also evident that this content does not exist in the subjects received. The general conclusion of the work is based on the fact that the students' perception shows that they have elementary knowledge about the theory and scarce knowledge about the methodology of the investigated construct.Item Percepciones respecto a la felicidad según docentes y autoridades de la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de Cuenca en el periodo 2019-2020(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-12-09) Cisneros Jerves, Nancy Paulina; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaHappiness as a state of fullness and balance is ambitious by every human being by involving positive emotions, which have a positive impact on the job performance and staff of university teachers. Inquiring about the perception of happiness has been the raison decided of this research, for which it was generally aimed at identifying divergent and convergent ideas regarding the concept of happiness of teachers and authorities of the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Cuenca. The study is part of a qualitative approach, exploratory scope and type of phenomenological design. The participants were teachers and authorities of the four careers of the faculty. The techniques used were semi-structured interviews, focus group and non-participating observation. The results show that teachers have different approaches to the concept of happiness, some are framed in happiness as a goal, Western vision related to quality of life (goods, income and recognition), others, commune with happiness as a lasting process that is subject to the achievements pursued and how to obtain them. In conclusion, a unique concept of happiness between teachers and authorities is not identified, it is clear that each person has a perception of happiness, influenced by personal factors and by the context in which it develops.Item Relación entre inteligencia emocional y engagement en docentes de Ciencias de la Educación de la Universidad de Cuenca, período 2018 - 2019(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-03-30) Buestán López, David Fernando; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaEducation is an important link for society and to carry it out, an important role is attributed to teachers, who are responsible not only for their work, but for being attentive to their own emotions, those of their students and the management that must be exercised over them, as well as the effective and integral learning of their students with enthusiasm, dedication, commitment and vigour; Around this idea, this research work is developed, which has as a general objective to determine the correlation between emotional intelligence and the commitment of teachers of the careers of educational sciences of the University of Cuenca. The research has a quantitative approach, a non-experimental retrospective design, with correlational and cross-sectional scope. population was made up of the 95 teachers of the Education Sciences careers of the University of Cuenca-Azuay. The instruments used were the WLEIS-S Emotional Intelligence Scale, the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale UWES and a sociodemographic file. The most relevant results suggest that there is a positive correlation between emotional intelligence and engagement in teachers of education science careers, which indicates that both variables interact with each other. In addition, the predominant emotional intelligence dimension is the regulation of emotions, and the predominant engagement factor is dedication, which indicates that being able to adequately regulate emotions in their work area has allowed them to dedicate themselves better in their work. As well as, is no significant difference in emotional intelligence and engagement according to sociodemographic variables, the results show a minimum difference in scores regarding age, sex, hiring modality, type of dedication and the level of training completed.Item Relación entre los rasgos de personalidad y el funcionamiento familiar en estudiantes de Psicología Clínica de la Universidad de Cuenca en el periodo 2020 – 2021(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-05-21) Orellana Flores, Santiago Israel; Padilla Zúñiga, Juan Fernando; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaFamily functioning and personality are essential aspects in the functional performance of the human being; there is relevancy regarding research in the relationship between these categories, especially in Clinical Psychology students because they maintain constant interaction with people and their mental health. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between personality traits and family functioning in students enrolled in the Clinical Psychology program of the University of Cuenca, in the period 2020-2021. The research method represents a quantitative non-experimental design, cross-sectional type with a descriptive-correlational scope. A socio-demographic card, the family functioning perception test (FF-SIL) and the NEO Five-Factor Inventory were sent to 161 students for data collection. Results showed that the personality traits were similar among the students with a predominance of neuroticism and openness to experience, and low levels of responsibility; all the variables of family functionality showed an inclination towards the functional pole, also, cohesion and harmony were the outstanding variables; It was found that family functionality has a negative relationship with neuroticism and positive relationships with extraversion, kindness, and responsibility traits.Item Sistema de talleres para fomentar la inteligencia emocional en estudiantes de la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de Cuenca en el período 2019-2020(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-07-17) Bacuilima Vásquez, Samantha Gabriela; Vanegas Sarango, Carla Samantha; Pernas Álvarez, Isis AngélicaThe main objective of this research was to assess the strategy of a mindfulness-based workshop system to work on emotional intelligence in students of the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Cuenca. It had a quantitative approach with quasi-experimental design and descriptive scope. The study sample was non-probabilistic and by quotas; It consisted of an experimental group and a control group of ten participants each, the ages ranged between 19 and 27 years, male and female, from psychology courses. The workshop system consisted of eight sessions that work on the skills of the Mayer and Salovey model using mindfulness techniques. The instrument used to assess emotional intelligence in the two groups in the pretest and in the post-test was the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (Spanish version) (WLEIS-S), in addition to the socio-demographic record. The workshop system is validated by expert criteria through the Delphi method. Among the most relevant results, a statistically significant change (p=0.007) in the global level of emotional intelligence andan impact of 38.4 points on average increase in the experimental group could be observed, an increase in the means of all skills was obtained emotions in the experimental group after the application of the workshops. The emotional facilitation ability was the one that presented the greatest increase in the media compared to the other skills, while the emotional regulation ability was the one that presented the least increase in the media. In conclusion, it is estimated that the workshop system was effective under the conditions in which it is determined and for the judgment of specialists.
