The family is the first learning space, where the father and mother are the source of principles and values that guide and teach their sons and daughters to interact how to respect social norms in all their environments. However, many adolescents do not have the support of their parents, being emotionally absent. Therefore, the objective of this research is to analyze the family system and the educational context of adolescents from families with absent parents The methodology used is mixed, quantitative and qualitative. First, quantitatively, a descriptive scope of research, using instruments such as the family APGAR test, study habits questionnaire and adaptability questionnaire for adolescents, managing a simple random probabilistic sampling. Second, qualitatively, a descriptive - explanatory scope, developing interviews through a question guide, the sampling used was non-probabilistic for convenience. The universe of investigation was the educational unit "Luis Monsalve Pozo" with the students of first, second and third year of high school, with a population of 86 students and their parents. Finally, for the processing of the quantitative information, the statistical program SPSS and the ATLAS-ti program were used for the analysis of qualitative information. As main results it was obtained that the student population with 60.47% perceives a mild to severe family dysfunction at home. Social adaptability is normal, however, emotional adaptability does not meet the needs of the student. The relationship of parents with the educational context according to the perception of adolescents indicates having affective shortcomings.
