Background: Childhood and adolescent cancer is one of the main causes of death according to statistics worldwide; Among these, thyroid cancer brings with it notable repercussions on the lives of patients who suffer from it, and although its prevalence is not very high, the study of its characteristics in this age group is still very important. General Objective: To determine the short and long-term survival of a group of patients aged between 1 to 17 years diagnosed with a malignant thyroid tumor, at the SOLCA Cancer Institute in Cuenca during the period from 1995 to 2020. Methodology: Survival study, retrospective, descriptive and quantitative where the universe is the patients with malignant thyroid tumor and the sample is a group of 24 patients between 1 to 17 years old diagnosed with thyroid cancer at the SOLCA Cuenca cancer institute, during the period 1995 to 2020. A form was used as a tool for data collection, in addition to the SQL Server statistics system of the SOLCA Cuenca institute. The data collected were tabulated using Microsoft Excel and later in SPSS using the Kaplan Meier method for survival. Results: At 5 years after diagnosis, 100% of the patients are alive, while after 25 years of diagnosis there is a living case that is equivalent to 4.16%, taking into account that it is the first person diagnosed in the investigation period. This indicates that the estimated survival exceeds 25 years after diagnosis. Conclusions: Both long and short-term survival in children and adolescents diagnosed with thyroid cancer at the SOLCA Cuenca Cancer Institute in the period 1995-2020 was favorable, turning out to be 100%.
