    Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas sobre infecciones vaginales en mujeres de 15 a 45 años de edad, en consulta externa de ginecología en el Centro de Salud Nicanor Merchán, Cuenca, 2015-2016

    Background: vaginal infections are common, disease entities in women of reproductive age, lack of knowledge, attitudes and inappropriate practices increase the risk of these infections. Objective: To determine the knowledge, attitudes and practices about vaginal infections in women aged 15 to 45 years old who attend outpatient gynecology at the Health Center, Nicanor Merchán of Cuenca. Methodology: Descriptive study in the Health Center Nicanor Merchán, with a sample of 399 women, information receivers by surveying patients 15 to 45 years, modified forms of study Yanez (50), validated in Santo Domingo, Ecuador . The results were analyzed in SPSS 15 software. Results: The mean age was 29 years (SD +/- 9), 44.6 % married women, 49.9 % housewives women, 44.1 % secondary education, knowledge about the definition of vaginal infections were 88.2 %, directly related secretion with vaginal infection was 67.4 %, the leading cause of infection was known multiple sex partners with 52.4 %, the abortion was 42.4 % complication selected and far more adequate protection with 70.2 % daily hygiene. Attitudes to seek medical infections were 86.5 %, the patients who had no previous treatments were 45.6%, the most reported symptoms were vaginal discomfort 49.4 %, relevant practice was the use of medicinal plants with 30.3% and eggs prescribed treatment with 58.1 %
