Item Elaboración de una guía turística para la ruta histórica “Albino del Curto”, Camino Pan-Méndez(2015) Parra Villavicencio, Lisbet Madeley; Pasato Guallpa, Pamela Elizabeth; Torres León, LeonardoThe Eastern Region of Ecuador at the beginning of the 20th century lacked schools and medical centers, so the Ecuadorian Government urged Pope León XIII the creation of four vicariates. The application was approved in 1893, by sending to the missionaries of the Salesian Congregation to direct the Apostolic Vicariate of Méndez and Gualaquiza to educate shuar people. The Salesian missionaries noted that the only means of communication to the Eastern Region were: Riobamba-Macas and Gualaceo-Limón, so it was necessary to create a new path that is fast and easy to navigate, due to existing roads not supplied to get the different peoples of South East Ecuadorian. The missionary Albino del Curto was sent to establish the Mission of Méndez and proposed creating a bridle path that communicate from El Pan to Méndez. In 1917, began the work of opening of the road with the collaboration of the inhabitants of Sevilla de Oro and El Pan. The road was opened in 1932.
