Item Evaluación de desempeño sísmico de un edificio esencial aporticado de hormigón armado según la norma ecuatoriana de construcción (nec-se-re, 2015)(2017) Orellana Román, Gonzalo Andrés; Parra Mora, Jonnathan Lizardo; García Alvear, Jaime EnriqueThe events of year 2016 evidence the problem of Ecuador when natural events are presented. This is because it is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire, which exposes the country to devastating earthquakes every certain period. This work evaluates the seismic response for performance of frame essential buildings of reinforced concrete on the city of Cuenca in the last years, by means of the nonlinear static analysis (NEA) and nonlinear dynamic analysis (NDA) following the recommendations of the Norma Ecuatoriana de la Construcción (NEC-SE-RE, NEC-SE-DS). All of these analyses done using the software SAP 2000. First, the model of the typical building was obtained from of the most unfavorable conditions in the last constructions. Then, the NEA was carried out determining the Pushover curve from which it was obtained the performance point. This was achieved by applying the methodologies of FEMA 440 (equivalent linearization) and ATC 40 (capacity spectrum method). Finally, the NDA was accomplished by determining the performance of the building during the dynamic acceleration that the seismic movement simulates. The results of these analyzes obtained the maximum displacements with each methodology. These were therefore compared, and verified that the inelastic drifts are inside the permissible limit. The analyses concluded that although the building didn't collapse, it doesn't satisfy the level of seismic performance for an essential structure. That is because all the beams collapsed; therefore the building was unable to continue in operation.
