Item Pérdida auditiva y factores asociados en pacientes del Centro de Audiología Salud Auditiva, Cuenca 2016(2017) Barzallo Astudillo, Paola Alexandra; Pando Tacuri, Priscila Adriana; Carvajal Flor, Edgar; Auquilla Díaz, Nancy EulaliaBACKGROUND: Hearing loss is a common problem in elderly people, causes social isolation, depression and other changes that alter the quality of life. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To determine the prevalence of hearing loss and related factors in patients of 30 and 90 that go to Centro de Audiologia Salud Auditiva in the city of Cuenca during October to December 2016. METHODOLOGY: An observational, descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out with a sample of 149 patients. A survey was obtained: sociodemographic data, comorbidities and hearing pathologies history was found. SPSS program was used to analyze for determination of the relationship among the variables identified by the Chi Square (χ2) with 95% confidence interval and the statistically significant results (p values <= 0.05) . RESULTS: Hearing problems occurred between 70 and 79 years (21.5%), female patients (61.1%), in patients whose occupation was household chores (36.2%), and in patients with primary education (41%). The most reported hearing loss was a moderate loss for both the left ear (40.3%) and the right ear (35.6%). As family history was manifested in 22% of the cases. Tinnitus was presented in 32.2% in history personal. The most frequent consultation was not listening (72.5%). Hearing loss showed a statistically significant association with: age p=0.00 for both ears, occupation p=0.007 for the right ear and p= 0.016 for the left ear, and level of education p=0.016 for the right ear and a p=0.001 for the left ear
