    Conocimientos de los maestros sobre el trastorno de déficit de atención con hiperactividad (TDHA)

    There is a lot of information about Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), but a lack of studies, specifically about teachers’ awareness of ADHD, has led us to conduct this research quantitative descriptive study. For this study, the survey called “Knowledge of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (KADDS)” was applied. It evaluates three areas: general knowledge, symptoms and diagnosis, and treatment; the results showed an average rate of 39%, 55%, and 36% respectively; the survey was conducted to the teachers of Luis Cordero Crespo school, located in San Blas, in the city of Cuenca. The data was processed by using Excel and SPSS software, version 20. This study concluded that the teachers were significantly more aware of such disorder in regard to its symptoms and diagnosis than in the other two areas. These data are consistent with the contributions of Sonia Jarque and her colleagues, whose studies our research is based on. Furthermore, while conducting the survey, it was possible to perceive a lack of interest by the teachers in training on ADHD as well as several misconceptions they have.
