Item Practicas alimentarias y percepcion corporal en pacientes post cirugia bariatrica de la consulta externa del Hospital Universitario del Rio, diciembre 2021 – marzo 2022(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-oct-17) Alvear Muñoz, Susana Caridad; Palacios Santana, Gicela MonserratBackground: Dietary practices and body perception in people undergoing bariatric surgery are two fundamental determinants in their daily lives. Through their experiences it was possible to know the process of change in their nutritional status and body perception, and the impact of the intervention. Objective: To describe the dietary practices and body perception in post bariatric surgery patients of the outpatient clinic of the Hospital Universitario del Río, December 2021 - March 2022. Methods: The present study is a descriptive qualitative study, the sample consisted of outpatients of the Nutrition department of the Hospital Universitario del Río in the period December 2021 to March 2022, the study consisted of ten participants, after accepting their participation and signing the informed consent, an unstructured interview was conducted, was audio recorded and transcribed textually. Results: One hundred percent of the participants have changed their eating practices independently of the time after surgery, and report paying attention to the type of food and its portion when consuming it, in relation to body perception all agree that it has changed, that their new body image has positively influenced their self-esteem, however twenty percent of this group considers that they could still be better, if they spent more time in physical activity or they still present distortion of their body image. Conclusions: eating practices and body perception after bariatric surgery have been completely modified in the most of the participant.
