This research is part of the research project "Acceptance and Rejection Parental perceived by children attending schools in the city of Cuenca" and has the purpose of correlating parental acceptance, rejection and control with academic performance in sixth and seventh graders of Basic General Education in public schools from Cuenca; which is based on Rohner's Interpersonal Theory. This research has a quantitative approach, is cross-sectional with correlational scope, for which the questionnaire "Child-Parq / Control: Father / Mother of Rohner (2004) and the sociodemographic record was applied. In the present study, 394 students of sixth and seventh grade of Basic General Education attended the public schools of the city of Cuenca. For the analysis of data, the expressions of parental acceptance, rejection and control were described, in addition, the students' academic performance were classified, to subsequently correlate these two variables. The results report that, in general, children perceive themselves as accepted and highly controlled by their parents; in terms of academic performance, it was found that girls have better grades than boys, and finally, two important results were reported: the higher the number of siblings, the male children are perceived as rejected by their mother; and to a greater qualification the males perceive greater feeling of acceptance of their mother.
