Depression is a disorder of frequent behavior in pregnant women, considering this study for the analysis of a problem not addressed in Ecuador. The objective is to evaluate the association between family support, urinary magnesium concentration and physical activity with depression in pregnant women of the "Pablo Jaramillo" Humanitarian Clinic in Cuenca-Ecuador. It is a case-control study, not experimental. Validated surveys were applied at national and international level to evaluate the presence of chronic diseases and depressive antecedents, as well as the consumption of alcohol, tobacco and drugs. Depression was determined using the Edinburgh scale, questionnaires were used to measure physical activity (AF) and to assess family functionality. In addition, 24-hour urine samples were collected for quantification of magnesium. STATA and EPIDATA were used for the management and tabulation of data, descriptive statistics and regression models for the analysis. According to the results, the group of depressed pregnant women presented a severely dysfunctional family (3.57%), in addition, 57.14% of them did not comply with the recommendation of urinary magnesium and it was obtained that they perform more sedentary and mild activities in minutes and METs in comparison of the control group. The regression models showed an OR of 9.20, even when adjusted with total and mild AF, indicating that the risk of developing a depressive disorder increases 9 times more when not complying with magnesium recommendations
