    Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas del personal de salud respecto a la política de los 10 pasos para una lactancia materna exitosa y su promoción a las madres, área de maternidad del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. Cuenca, 2015

    Objetive: is aimed to determine attitudes, knowledge and practices of the health personnel according to the policies based on the 10 steps for a successful breastfeeding, including its promotion in mothers treated at the maternity of Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, 2015. Methodology: a descriptive cross sectional study was made; which had the cooperation of 84 staff members and 270 postpartum mothers in the maternity area of HVCM. In order to collect the required information two forms were used, those are promoted by the WHO and UNICEF. Finally all data was analyzed throughout SPSS vs 22 and Excel 2010 software. Results: the 10.71%% of the personnel followed and accomplished the ten steps policy. In the same way the evaluation of the three principal parameters revealed that 50% of the health personnel had a regular knowledge, 78% a favorable attitude level and 69.05% a moderate practical level. More over the results also shown that of the 270 mothers only the 50% of them received information, 48.89% of them had a regular knowledge; the 28.89% received a good practice by qualified personnel. Conclusion: our study shown that certain factors such as the years of experience and even the type of profession did not have any significant statistical relation with knowledge, attitudes and practices (p>0.05). On the other hand the knowledge level shown statistical relation with the residence area and the studies level (p<0.05)
