    Prevalencia de infarto agudo de miocardio y factores asociados en el Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga de la ciudad de Cuenca, en el periodo 2008 – 2013

    Objective: To determine the prevalence of emergency admissions of patients to the city of Cuenca Carrasco José Arteaga hospital with a diagnosis of AMI and risk factors, such as smoking, hypertension, dyslipidemia and obesity in the period 2008-2013. Methodology: A descriptive study was conducted in the universe HJCA and counted as patients emergency area of the hospital with a diagnosis of AMI patients totaling 258. Results: 258 cases of AMI were identified in the study, the submission rate per million population by year 2008 was 22.4; 2009 30.8; 2010 37.9; 2011 71.6; 2012 141.8 2013 57.5 cases; the mean age at presentation was 66.45 years; being more affected men ratio 3.4 / 1 compared with women; the prevalence of family history of cardiovascular disease was 45.3% and 70.9% family history. The prevalence of risk factors were: smoking 27.9%; HTA 30.2%; dyslipidemia 22.2%; 19.6% obesity in 95.3% of cases the clinical criteria were used for the detection of AMI.; ECG in 80.2% of cases and 76.7% in cardiac enzymes. Age was associated with the presence of smoking, just as happened between sex and smoking, obesity last sex was associated with mortality was 4.7%. Conclusions: AMI is associated with preventable risk factors such as smoking, hypertension and obesity, also represents an important source of mortality.
