Autoconcepto en adolescentes de 13 a 15 años de educación general básica
(2015) Padilla Chima, Martha Asucena; Pacheco Salazar, María de Lourdes
The purpose of this research work was to detect the self-concept level that teenagers have at the Educational Center “Juan Peñafiel” located in the parish of El Valle of the community Pucacruz Alto in the canton of Cuenca, province of Azuay. In order to fulfill the objectives pursued and give answers to the research questions, a structured questionnaire was applied to 60 students of the Educational Center whose ages varied between thirteen and fifteen years-old. This diagnostic tool belongs to Fernando García& Gonzalo Musitu’s Form 5 Self-concept Test (AF5) (2005) which is composed of five specific areas: working-academic, social, emotional, family, and physical. The results obtained from the research are the following: a high self-concept level is represented by a percentage of 3.33% while an average self-concept is represented by the 8.33% and a low self-concept is represented by the 88.33 % of the population investigated. In the light of these findings, it is hoped that the joint involvement of the Educational Center, teachers, and parents will provide teenagers with strategies to motivate, stimulate and develop their self-concept level since this is the stage where the personality of human beings is structured.
