    Prevalencia de parasitismo intestinal en los habitantes de la Comunidad de Pillcopata Tambo-Cañar 2015

    Background: According to WHO (World Health Organization) around 133 million people experience strong intestinal parasitism each year, mainly caused by helminths situation which particularly affects developing countries either for lack water, hygiene or sanitation. This study will be carried out in the community belonging to the city Pillcopata Tambo. Objective: determine the prevalence of intestinal parasites in the inhabitants of the community Pillcopata. Methodology: descriptive cross-sectional was study. The universe was formed by 204 people. The coproparasitary examination was performed in the laboratory diagnostic center. The results were analyzed in SPSS V22 and Excel programs and are represented in tables. Results: 58.8% of the inhabitants of Pillcopata reported parasitism. The female shower higher frequency (56%), the most common age group was between 10-19 years (27.5%). The parasitive most prevalent Entamoeba histolytica was (45%). The 74% of the population directly consume the tap water. 57% do not wash their hands before meals. 37% do not wash fruits and vegetables. 32% of the most characteristic symptom was abdominal pain (12.5%). Conclusions. - The intestinal parasitism in Pillcopata he apperead in more tan half of the community at a higher rate in women and the Young group. These high numbers are favored by various factors such as lack of potable drinking water, improper hand washing fruits and vegetables.
