Item Prevalencia de enfermedades respiratorias agudas en el año 2016 en relación con la calidad del aire atmosférico de Cuenca 2018(2019-10-01) Fernández Peralta, José Gabriel; Ortiz Mora, Erick Alberto; Ordóñez Vintimilla, José RicardoBackground: According to the World Health Organization (WHO), air pollution causes 4.2 million premature deaths worldwide per year; in 2016, approximately 72% of these deaths were related to air pollution and 24% to respiratory causes. Objective: to determine the prevalence of acute respiratory diseases in 2016, in relation to the atmospheric quality of Cuenca. Methodology: analytical, cross-sectional investigation of the prevalence of acute respiratory diseases obtained from the electronic record of the morbidity profile of the MSP of the health centers of Cuenca in 2016 corresponding to the monitoring points of the EMOV-EP and the relationship with the atmospheric air quality taken from the EMOV-EP air quality report in Cuenca. A sample was not taken, it worked with the universe. The analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, bivariate linear regression (Spearman's Rho) and multivariate. For the analysis the software was used: EpiInfo and for the presentation of tables and graphs: Excel 2016. Results: the prevalence of acute respiratory diseases in the urban area of the canton Cuenca was 13%. The prevalence at the highest pollution points was in the Cebollar sector with 19%, while the prevalence at the lowest pollution points was the Borja College sector with 41%. Conclusion: In the multivariate analysis, no positive relationship was found between the variables studied.
