Energy assessment during the use phase of residential building in Cuenca will allow the development of strategies for more efficient models of housing, from the reduction of energy demand for heating by means of the envelope and the electrical consumption for lighting. On this basis, it is questionable whether it is possible to put forward a model of housing in Cuenca, which generate low energy consumption without affecting the conditions of habitability, since the current society needs to maintain adequate levels of comfort within the housing. For that purpose it is necessary to understand the current state of the residential sector by conducting surveys, monitoring, measurements and simulations in a sample of housing in the city, this way information is obtained for further measurement and evaluation. After the evaluation, according with criteria from international certification methods, a number of concerns were identified, for which strategies are developed and applied to a house from the analyzed sample. Such strategies are assessed, showing a substantial reduction in energy consumption and demand, which demonstrates the importance of application and validation of energy-saving strategies.
