Item Análisis y diseño sismorresistente de conexiones rígidas para secciones tubulares(2014) Arízaga Pino, María Belén; Ortiz Coka, Sergio Gustavo; Carrión Monsalve, Juan EugenioMost of the problems encountered in steel structures are usually manifested due to poorly designed or poorly executed unions. Proper design of the joints has considerable implications in the cost of materials, reducing the dimensions of the structural components, and therefore the total cost of the structure. The construction of earthquake resistant buildings based on moment frames, using hollow section columns filled with concrete and/or tubular beams, has many advantages, both in structural, architectural, and economic fields. Currently, the use of this type of construction in Cuenca city and in Equator, has increased substantially. Here there is a need for a technical study of the foreign codes and scientific publications that will allow for a more accurate calculation methodology that can be applied to earthquake resistant solicitations of our country. Since Ecuador is a country prone to earthquakes, this research proposes the analysis and the earthquake resistant design of beam-column moment connections and column to footings. This research presents a theoretical compilation of joints and the empirical design of connections, together with the simulation by finite element analysis in a computer program, applied to four types of moment connections: a) tubular-beam to composite tubular column connection with external diaphragm, b) I-beam to composite tubular column with external diaphragm, c) composite tubular column to foundation connection with bolted base plate d) composite tubular column to foundation connection with stiffened bolted base plate.Item Elaboración de estudios de ingeniería para el mejoramiento de la vía a la cabecera parroquial de San Sebastián de Yuluc, desde la abscisa 5+500.00 hasta la cabecera parroquial de San Sebastián de Yuluc, ubicada en el cantón Saraguro de la provincia de Loja(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-01-03) Ortiz Coka, Sergio Gustavo; Carvallo Corral, Pablo AndrésThe power-generator company of the Austro, ELECAUSTRO S.A. is executing the wind project “Minas de Huascachaca”, located in the parish of San Sebastián de Yúluc, canton Saraguro, Loja province. Several roads in the parish have been planned to improve as compensation to the community for these works. In this context, the present project seeks the "ELABORATION OF ENGINEERING STUDIES FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE ROAD TO THE PARISH HEADQUARTERS OF SAN SEBASTIÁN DE YULUC FROM THE ABCISA 5+500.00 TO THE PARISH HEADQUARTERS OF SAN SEBASTIÁN DE YULUC, LOCATED IN THE SARAGURO CANTON OF THE PROVINCE OF LOJA". Under these engineering studies, it is possible to obtain the Technical Report of the Topographic study, the Technical Report of the Definitive Geometric Design, and the Technical Report of the Pavement Designs. The road section under study has a length of 3,571.00 m. For the geometric design, it has been tried to adjust as much as possible to the existing infrastructure through spiral curves, generating a minimum of cut and fill. Two alternatives have been proposed for the structure of the pavement. The first contemplates a sub-base layer thickness of 25.00 cm, a base layer thickness of 12.00 cm and a 2.00-inch asphalt concrete wearing course. The second alternative comprises a 30.00 cm sub-base layer, a 17.00 cm cement-stabilized base layer, and a Double Bituminous Surface Treatment wearing course.
