(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-09-05) Merchán Piedra, José David; Ortiz Camposano, Alex Santiago; Loyola Ochoa, Diego Mauricio
This study analyzes the implementation of a new strategic logistics model, in the “Marin” bicycle distribution system of the Ecuacyclo company in the "warehouse 64" of the GO Corp business group. For them, the Cross Docking distribution model is proposed, which seeks eliminate the storage process and thereby reduce delivery times, deterioration and loss of merchandise. The proposal was analyzed based on the information on losses and returns given by the inventory carried out by Ecuacyclo as of July 2022 and by the survey that were applied to 19 retail stores called “Bike Shops”. In addition, a financial analysis was carried out based on an incremental flow of effective of the Cross Docking model. The results determined the financial viability of applying a new logistics system in the distribution of Marin bicycles, through an initial investment which can be recovered in less than 2 years due to the reduction of costs of lost merchandise, damages, labor and transportation, that are involved in the implementation of Cross Docking.
