Item Síntomas prodrómicos en los pacientes diagnósticados de esquizofrenia, en el Centro de Reposo y Adicciones, entre los años 1994-2009, Cuenca(2010) Orellana Cobos, Juan Pablo; Ortega Flores, Edison Genaro; Ortiz Ortega, José Luis; Pacurucu Castillo, Saúl Francisco; Jaramillo Oyervide, Julio AlfredoObjective: to know the most frequent prodromal symptoms presented by patients diagnosed with schizophrenia at the Center for Rest and Addiction (CRA), in the city of Cuenca, from 1994 to 2009. Method and materials: a retrospective study of a sample taken from the computerized database of medical records of the Center for Rest and Addiction of Cuenca city. This sample consists of 484 medical records of patients diagnosed with schizophrenia according to DSM IV and DSM IV-TR. Data were analyzed with SPSS version 15.00. Results: The most frequent prodromal symptoms are the sleep disorders (52.9%), irritability (43.4%) and changes in perception of self, others and the world (37.8%). With respect to gender, schizophrenia is more common in men (63.6%). Regarding the subtype of schizophrenia, paranoid (50.4%) is the most commonly presented. The insidious starts (76%) are more common than the acute ones (24%). Personality is the most common premorbid schizoid (65.4%). Schizophrenia was diagnosed most frequently between 33-42 years of age (51.2%). Conclusions: schizophrenic population in our area is between 33-42 years of age, on the matter of gender there is significant difference in frequency. In the paranoid subtype of insidious start there are more frequent prodromes. Keywords: Schizophrenia. Prodromal symptoms. Sex. Age. Subtype. Onset type.
