To measure the results. For a description of the qualitative variables frequency and percentage was calculated for quantitative analysis and the mean, standard deviation, variance and T Student was used. After the educational intervention there is a significant difference in the mean of knowledge, attitudes and practices of mothers before surgery (51.8 %) and after the intervention (84.2 %). Therefore we conclude that educational intervention modify knowledge, attitudes and practices of mothers, because the value of the test (p = 0.00 which is < p = 0.05). Cuenca, mayo-octubre 2017(2018-11-11) Guamán Chillogalli, Alexandra Nataly; Loayza Saritama, Katherine Lisbeth; Ortega Chica, Paula Soledad; Pesantez Díaz, Tania LorenaBackground: The delay in psychomotor development involves alterations in areas such as: language, post-motor acquisitions and social interaction skills, these alterations in development are considered relevant problems that have high impact for the family and society. Sometimes these disorders may be transient or may be a cause of disability, so the evaluation is a primary factor that will allow to assess medical behavior and family intervention. Objective: To determine the psychomotor development in children from 3 to 5 years of age, with the TEPSI Test, in the Educational Unit "Fray Gaspar de Carvajal", of the Sayausí Parish of the Cantón Cuenca, in the period May-October 2017. Methodology: The present study uses a descriptive design of cross section; the sample was made up of the whole universe, 170 boys and girls of the Educational Unit "Fray Gaspar de Carvajal", of the Sayausí Parish of the Cuenca Canton, between the ages between 3 and 5 years old. Result: The studied sample presented homogeneity in terms of gender, however, in age group 65% belonged to children aged between 4 years 6 months 1 day to 5 years. There was a delay in coordination, language and motor skills in 8%, 6.5% and 7.6% respectively. Of the sample evaluated, they are located in the risk category 27% in the coordination area, 18.2% in language and 12.9% in motor skills. Conclusions: Only statistically significant relationship was found between language and age, being these inversely proportional, meaning that the younger the child, the greater the risk of delay. The application of the Tepsi test showed that when relating the categories of normality, risk and delay for the evaluated sample, it is observed that there is a greater risk in the coordination and motor skills in the third age group (4-5 years) and the delay is made more evident at the language level.Item Evaluación de la conducta en los niños que reciben teleterapia de estimulación temprana de la Universidad de Cuenca. The objectives were to assess the knowledge, attitudes and practices of umbilical cord care, used for data collection pre -caps, an educational proposal, and a post -caps. It was hypothesized that educational interventions modify the knowledge, attitudes and practices about cord care, we have acquired the knowledge level of the mothers of the umbilical cord should fall between 5 to 15 days increased from 69.7% to 98.3%, in that the cord should be clean and dry typically 96.7% to 99.7 %, in that the benefit of the alcohol is to prevent infections 77.7% to 95.7% as poor cord care causes infections from 83% to 97.7%. Attitudes that should not cover the cord increased from 39% to 93.3%, which it should be clean for 3 to 5 days after his fall from 57.3% to 95% and you should not wrap the clamp 93.3% 61.7%. As for practices that lead to the child 's doctor if you notice redness around the cord observed an increase of 93.3% to 99.7%, from 82.3% to 99.3% who would look at him with alcohol, 96% to 100% that before cleaning would wash the hands and from 81.3% to 98.3% which would clean 2 to 3 times per day. After the intervention it can be seen that the children differentiate in a better way the concepts from all the categories established in the test. The categories: space, quantity, others improved significantly; however, in the category time there was a marked increase, being as with the intervention it increased from 19% to 82,9%. Finally, to obtain statistical significance from the concepts contained in each category presented in the test was applied the Mc Nemar´s nonparametrical statistic test (< 0, 05); because of, this test allows comparing proportions between related samples.Item Prevalencia y factores de riesgo asociados a ictericia neonatal en el servicio de neonatología del Hospital Homero Castanier Crespo. Marzo-agosto 2019.(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-12-14) Banegas Silva, Jessica Tamara; Vicuña Castro, Rodrigo Fernando; Ortega Chica, Paula SoledadNeonatal jaundice is produced when there is an increase on the level of bilirubin in the blood of a newborn. The bilirubin is a yellowish bile pigment, that is produced by the breakdown of red blood cells in the body. The organs in charge of performing this function are the spleen and the liver, which is in charge of breaking down and eliminating this substance from the body. GENERAL OBJECTIVE To determine the prevalence and risk factors of neonatal jaundice in the Neonatology area of Homero Castanier Crespo Hospital, period March-August 2019. METHODOLOGY A quantitative-retrospective cross-sectional study was carried out in a Universe of 237 neonates, of which 187 represent the research sample that was taken from the medical records of hospitalized patients in the Neonatology area of the Homero Castanier Crespo Hospital in the period March-August 2019. To determine its prevalence and the different risk factors that are associated with jaundice; this information will be collected from the patient database, which will be tabulated and analyzed for each type of variable in the Microsoft EXCEL program to be represented by statistical graphics in the SPSS v.26.0 program. Results Through the compilation of the medical records of the 237 patients taken for the study, only the 187 NBs presented neonatal jaundice, representing 78.9% and their predominant risk factors at the Homero Castanier Crespo Hospital, during the period March-August 2019 were: male sex, full-term newborn, appropriate weight, eutocic delivery, and maternal age between 25-29 years, immediate attachment and exclusive breastfeeding.
