Item Adaptación del concierto para violín y orquesta en D Mayor, Op 61 de Ludwig van Beethoven para guitarra eléctrica.(2019-04-03) Gómez Mejía, Henry José; Ortega Barros, Jorge AlfredoThe present work of the thesis applies the techniques of playing of the electric guitar in the adaptation of the Concert for violin and orchestra Op 61 of Ludwig van Beethoven. For this purpose, the formal, harmonic and thematic analysis of the three movements of the work has been carried out, the techniques of the electric guitar have been explained and developed in a methodological compendium, which, in addition, is exemplified by a video tutorial that guarantees the correct interpretation of this techniques. First, it will examine the social context of Ecuador during this period, in order to provide a better understanding of why this musical genre was considered an elitist dance. Likewise, it will analyze the literary works of La Generación Decapitada (The Decapitated Generation), a group of Ecuadorian writers active between 1900 and 1930, whose poems and books inspired some of the most iconic Pasillo songs. Second, the study will focus on the musical aspects and elements of Pasillo, including form, tempo, harmony, and meter, which will help define its distinctive sound. This project focuses on the composition of original songs, researching, analyzing, and merging sound resources and instruments from both national and foreign genres, specifically the "albazo" (Ecuadorian) and jazz (a globally originated music born in New Orleans). The set objectives involve composing two fusion songs for a mixed ensemble format, delving into the musical characteristics of the chosen genres and their main influencers. Additionally, a formal analysis of the composition techniques of each style is undertaken, followed by the composition and explanation of the compositional process of the pieces. The methodology used follows Jan LaRue's approach, which outlines fundamental stages: background, observation, and evaluation. The results of this work encompass a theoretical foundation of the two styles used, achieved through formal analysis and subsequent adaptation to function as a fusion. Furthermore, there is a detailed account of the composition process. It is concluded that the fusion of "albazo" and jazz is feasible, as supported by the results tables. The theoretical significance of the featured composition lies in a different use of the ensemble and the role of Andean instruments in an orchestral setting. Similarly, we proceed to review the background of this style focusing on different points such as its origin, its development throughout history, the main exponents of that style, along with the characteristics that make up the fingerstyle style. A morphological, rhythmic, harmonic and melodic description of the finger style is also elaborated, using for it three musical works which are developed under this style, finally ending with the creation of the four compositions, the analysis of two of them and the interpretation of the works.Item Concierto acústico de tres adaptaciones de temas ganadores del premio Grammy en la categoría mejor grabación años 2015 a 2017(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-12-03) Valverde Landy, Alberto Mateo; Ortega Barros, Jorge AlfredoThe purpose of the following research is to realization of three adaptations of Grammy Award-winning songs in the category of best recording from 2015 to 2017 to be performed in an acoustic concert, which will be composed of: an acoustic bass, a peruvian cajon, acoustic guitars and a voice. Detailing the possibilities of execution of them and providing a new sonority to the selected topics. First, the study focused on studying how the Grammy Awards work, nominations and election process. Then, there was an approach to the musical cultural industry. Also, focusing on studying the music of the last decades, since the sectioned themes are part of it. On the other hand, will analyze the history of unplugged, to be sure that this trend still works. In addition, a musical analysis of the selected topics was carried out to finish with the detailed description of the adaptation, based on previously made guidelines.Item Concierto de arreglos inéditos de sanjuanitos ecuatorianos(2016) Ortega Barros, Jorge Alfredo; Novillo Alulema, Walter VinicioThe present thesis entitled “Concierto de arreglos inéditos de Sanjuanitos Ecuatorianos” develop the arrangement process of ten selected works in sanjuanito rhythm, using music elements such as traditional, escolastic, and of performance, all of them related to the jazz It develops three important stages studying the sanjuanito rhythm in explicative and graphic ways. Also it studies the music and interpretative materials, in the creative process of the arrangements until the music is notated for the final concert. The first stage is mostly dedicated to the traditional Sanjuanito. In this section ten sanjuanito works have been selected from the interpretation from the Saltos´ brothers, called “Los Gatos”, and musicians who have accompanied them in many phonographic registers. The thesis develops graphic material. It explains the woks previously selected in terms of melody, rhythm and harmony related to the mathematics using a Cartesian axis. This graphic material uses the tempo and sound heights to obtain graphics that represents compositional designs. The second stage describes the elements most used in the jazz genre, its melodic, harmonic, and rhythm sources, through the analysis of two selected works taken of the Real Book. All the previously material in this genre will use in the arrangements. The third stage describes the creative process. It studies through an analysis of important sections of the scores in the arrangements, explaining the harmonic, melodic, and rhythmic contributions that will use in the selected works. All the arrangements will premiered in a concert of one hour long.Item Concierto de graduación con arreglos de seis temas de música popular ecuatoriana fusionados con el rock(2017) Palaguachi Carabajo, José Froilán; Ortega Barros, Jorge AlfredoThis following work is about how to compose six musical arrangements; this composition will attempt fuse rock musical elements with some chosen Ecuadorian ones which will influence in: performance, form, rhythm, melody and timbre. Three chapters have been dealt, which the first one deals with different theoretical concepts on rock and Ecuadorian popular music; the second chapter deals with several references on arrangement techniques, instrumental techniques necessary for this project, and musical analysis; the third chapter will develop the structural analysis, arrangement, and instrumental arrangements, detailing step by step what was done. In the same way, it will provide the scores of each of them and references of the original themes. Finally, it contains conclusions where we can value the results.Item Elaboración de siete arreglos de pasillos fusionados con elementos de jazz para ser interpretados en un concierto(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-10-18) Gutiérrez López, Milton Esteban; Ortega Barros, Jorge AlfredoThis project develops the fusion of seven corridors with musical elements of jazz such as: harmony, rhythm, scales, modes and phrasing; for the purpose of being performed in a concert. It will be framed within the type of field and bibliographic research. Directly developing selected issues, maintaining a direct relationship with sources of information both at a general and individual level. The theoretical part will be supported by consulting bibliographical sources, texts, publications and online material. The first chapter deals with the origins, styles and characteristics of Hall and jazz, in order to introduce the aforementioned musical genres. In the second chapter, the musical characteristics of the Hall and jazz are developed, as well as the musical resources used in the arranging process of the themes. In the third chapter, an analysis of each selected work was carried out, reviewing its form, rhythm, harmony, melody and formal structure. In the fourth and last chapter, the finished musical arrangements are presented.Item Elaboración de un EP de tres canciones detallando producción y postproducción del género indie pop(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-03-05) Pintado Villarreal, Jonnathan Javier; Ortega Barros, Jorge AlfredoBy creating an EP of three songs, we seek to carry out a recording session and its postproduction, from composition to delivery of the final sound artistic product, based on the fusion of the indie genre and the pop genre, after having carried out an in-depth analysis of the different elements that constitute these specific musical genres, taking elements from each one, based on established criteria and delimitations, in the case of pop music, choosing musical elements from representative works included among the 90s and 2000s, and in the case of indie, outstanding songs between 2010 and 2020, mixing the different particularities of each one to create an unreleased song, resulting in an organic fusion of the multiple characteristics that are part of each musical genre, so that it serves as a guide for carrying out projects, regardless of who uses these tools, and can follow the process in detail, obtaining the expected results and benefiting from the work prepared, to fill gaps that exist regarding musical production in its different stages, achieving expertise in the field of composition, analysis, fusion, recording of the material, editing, mixing and mastering of the project.Item Elaboración de un sencillo de fusión de música disco y pop de autoría propia(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-03-07) Torres Pinta, Alison Daniela; Ortega Barros, Jorge AlfredoCurrently, within the field of music production, the role of a music producer and their influence in the creation process of a musical product is not precisely known or is of an ambiguous nature. The producer may be involved in the completion of a project from its beginning. Additionally, there is a broad spectrum of processes and concepts that need to be understood to carry out them. Within this framework, the present work aims to show the process carried out by the music producer during the creation of a musical single, but focused on the fusion of two musical genres. For this research, the chosen genres were disco and pop, which are known for their similarity, and new analysis methods were employed to identify patterns in representative songs of these genres. The results were taken as a starting point for the execution of the following stages, which were: recording, editing, mixing and mastering of the song, resulting in the fusion musical single as the final product.Item Grabación de un EP con tres temas en género pop/rock alternativo con técnicas de Home Studio(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-03-20) Sinche Lojano, Walter Patricio; Ortega Barros, Jorge AlfredoThis thesis explores the impact of home studios on the recording and production of three pop/rock alternative tracks, highlighting how technological democratization has transformed the creation, recording, and distribution of music. It provides a detailed analysis of the processes involved in producing an EP, from equipment selection to mastering and distribution, demonstrating how home studio techniques can match professional quality and overcome traditional barriers. Through the analysis of the tracks “Auto Sin Control,” “Elévate,” and “Alma,” the recording methodologies and their impact on artistic quality are evaluated, drawing comparisons with professional standards. This project not only examines technical aspects but also the cultural and economic influence of home studios in the music industry, emphasizing their key role in developing emerging artists. Inspired by bands such as Foster the People, Cage the Elephant, Tame Impala, and Twenty One Pilots, the study adapts their techniques and concepts to the domestic production context, proving that professional-quality results are achievable in unconventional environments. The work underscores how home studios have revolutionized industry access, providing creative and economic opportunities that were once exclusive to large studios. This project thus positions itself as a contribution to the analysis of contemporary music production, reflecting its evolution and adaptability in an increasingly accessible landscape for independent artists.Item Guía didáctica de recursos compositivos utilizados en obras de música ecuatoriana aplicables a la enseñanza de la composición(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-07-16) Velasco Carvajal, Pablo Fernando; Ortega Barros, Jorge AlfredoIntroduction: This work has been developed in the context of the pedagogical proposal, through the offering of guided activities, which include a theoretical base that references concepts and exemplifications of those resources and elements conducive to the practice of composition and musical creation, framed in the conjugation of European stylistic influences with the Ecuadorian national historical aesthetic. Objectives: it is intended to propose a guide with theoretical and practical content, which includes activities that stimulate the creative and compositional capacities of students in musical training, and whose production techniques are based on bibliographic references that combine the universal compositional tradition with national aesthetics. Ecuadorian. Materials and method: The work includes a method made up of ten activities derived from the theoretical framework that exposes the theoretical bases necessary for its development. Each activity provides a description, an objective, and the applicable development tasks. Conclusions and Recommendations: In the present theoretical-based work and pedagogical proposal, it is concluded that the promotion of compositional approaches that combine traditional European aesthetics with national aesthetics could represent a valuable factor that could stimulate the creative ability of musicians in training, focusing this work on rescuing the intangible values of our local cultures. The recommendation of the work suggests a necessary formal implementation of similar guidelines regarding compositional ability in higher education institutions, as it is an exercise that compromises the aesthetics of which its executors are surrounded with attention to the social and cultural environment in which its developments are contemplated.Item Método bitécnico para guitarra popular(Universidad de Cuenca.
