The arrival of the pandemic caused by the virulent outbreak of COVID 19 has caused the lack of resilience and adaptability in the design of food marketing spaces, which is an activity of prime necessity. The crisis has resulted in a significant reduction of users in market spaces due to the lack of food safety and organization within the same, in turn, the economy of traders has been reduced due to the lack of alternatives when distributing food, these problems show that the design of the city facilities constantly maintains deficiencies that do not respond to the current reality. With this background, this document presents the design strategy guide for a market system adaptable to emergency situations in the city of Cuenca as a tool to make decisions when intervening in a commercialization space. Solutions were generated for times of emergencies and focused on a new normality that is present today in the cities, involving the perception of users and the collection of data from different sources that speak of the problems and solutions used for food supply around the narratives of Markets and COVID 19. The results of this research suggest that data analysis and interpretation during times of crisis may be one of the greatest challenges to generate new inputs for the market and the city being co-dependent on each other. This type of strategies will contribute to think of new options and activities to implement in the market system, which prevents these spaces from being static and not very dynamic when facing drastic and reversible changes due to any crisis or need. Strategies of this nature can provide valuable information that can be deepened and analyzed about the market space, helping city planners and architects to have more resilient and flexible spaces that respond to current needs.
