Vernacular architecture is the means of dissemination of past generations; the preservation of heritage guarantees the identity of a community, and architecture acts as a representation of the intangible parts of a population. The buildings of El Valle parish are in danger due to the development of the city, which leads to new user needs and the urbanization of the rural sectors, generating the peri-urban sector of the city. The lack of control in the rural sectors leads to uncontrolled interventions without technical criteria in all types of buildings. The determination of the current state of the buildings, as well as the comparison with the previous inventory, makes it possible to identify the factors of heritage loss, propose criteria for action and generate strategies in accordance with the area of study for the preservation of heritage. It is essential to understand the variables present in vernacular buildings in order to give them a degree of valuation and determine their degree of alteration in the case of buildings previously inventoried by the INPC in previous years. This degree work seeks to analyze the loss of built heritage in the periurban sector of the city of Cuenca, specifically in the parish of El Valle, by obtaining information from the facades of the buildings, coding based on their sector, photographic record and analysis of the materiality, land use, pathologies and implantation in the property.
