    With the objective of knowing the factors associated with the ingestion of alcoholic beverages in a community whose characteristics will be similar to the majority of communities of the interandina region. The possibility of providing a solution to this problem, a task of long-term scope and responsibility of the public health agencies of the country, will only be possible with adequate knowledge of their frequency and impact. Alcoholism in Ecuador is high but detailed information is not available. Interviews were conducted: in the November 3 community, it was found that 39 answered affirmatively having ingested alcoholic beverages more than once, 29 of the 39 interviewed were parents in front of the household each. The remaining 9 who completed the sample, were children in dependency relation of a head of family. The average of members in dependence of a head of family is the community was of 4.5 + - 1.6, value that keeps similarity with the home Average of the rural sector of Ecuador. In this case, in 72.6 of the households there are 3 to 5 people depending on the. The minimum number of components was from 2 to a maximum of 9 members
