    Pielonefritis aguda en pacientes del área de obstetricia del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, Cuenca enero-diciembre 2015

    Background: Acute pyelonephritis is a frequent pathology in pregnant patients that can bring health consequences and complications so characterizing the affected population would contribute to a better epidemiological approach to this pathology. General Objective: To determine the clinical characteristics of patients with acute pyelonephritis in the Obstetrics area of Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso during the year of 2015. Methodology: A retrospective descriptive study was performed by reviewing the medical records of obstetric patients diagnosed with acute pyelonephritis during the year of 2015, the information was collected on a data sheet, and its analysis was done in a version 15 of the SPSS program, presenting tables according to the objectives and the analysis with descriptive statistics. Results: 75 cases were identified, 64 belonged to pregnant patients, 4 corresponded to postpartum week and 7 patients represented patients with incomplete or delayed abortion, the mean age of the patients was 24.67 years, being the largest group Affected the 20 to 29 years old with 45.3%; free union with 36% predominates, high school level of education 41.3%, residents and people who come from the urban area with 69.3% and 64%, respectively. The characterization of signs and symptoms of acute pyelonephritis showed that the most relevant with postpartum week 78.7% abdominal pain. Conclusions: Acute pyelonephritis is frequent in the pregnant population, increasing the risk of complications and morbidity, so prevention and good management are the best strategies to avoid this pathology
