The influence of urban-architectural design on women’s perception of safety within the Central Campus of the University of Cuenca is a crucial topic that highlights the need to incorporate a gender perspective in urban space design, given its impact on the experience and safety of female users. This study aims to analyze the spatial conditions of the campus to propose design strategies that integrate accessibility, safety, and functionality from a gender- sensitive approach. Using a qualitative methodology, tools such as literature review, direct observation, semi-structured interviews, and analysis through a Likert scale were employed to prioritize the most critical campus entrances. The findings reveal that women perceive higher levels of insecurity, particularly during nighttime hours, due to factors such as inadequate lighting, visual barriers, and limited natural surveillance. The study concludes that it is essential to design spaces with better visibility and appropriate lighting, and to promote activities that enhance social surveillance, recommending concrete guidelines to transform the campus into a safe and accessible environment for all users.
