(1)- Objective: To determine the prevalence and clinical features of acute pancreatitis in patients attending the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso during the period 2007-2011. Methodology: A retrospective descriptive study, conducted by reviewing the medical records of patients diagnosed with acute pancreatitis in internal medicine, emergency surgery Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso in the city of Cuenca, during the period 2007-2011.- Results: Between January 2007 - December 2011, 407 patients were detected diagnosed with acute pancreatitis, giving a prevalence rate of 9.6 cases per 10,000 hospital discharges with a mean age of 43.58 years, standard deviation 15 , 81 years old, the age group most frequently aged 25-34 was 24.8%, sex affected was 64.9% female, 55.8% aetiology was biliary presented abdominal pain 96 8%, the major systemic complication renal failure 2.9% and Local biliary obstruction 5.9%, 44% of patients remained hospitalized between 4-6 days, the mortality from this disease was 0.5%.- Conclusions: The prevalence of acute pancreatitis in patients was 9.6 cases per 10,000 discharges, with a fatality rate of 0.5%.AU
