    Introduction: Currently the ITS are among the most frequent causes worldwide morbidity due to its high prevalence, easy transmission and complications that are generated, they have become a problem that has high relevance to health level, where according who 1 million people contract an ITS every day and it is estimated that annually 15% of young people acquire an ITS in the world. A study showed that 7% of college students had a history of ITS. Objective: To determine risk behaviors for sexually transmitted infections in nursing students. Faculty of Medical Sciences. University of Cuenca, 2016. Methods: An observational, analytical and cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 225 students. A validated survey was applied for the socioeconomic level and "ENASSER" survey for risky sexual behaviors. The analysis was done with the SPSS program through univariate and bivariate analysis. Statistically significant results were considered at values of p <0.05. Results: The majority of our respondents are between the ages of 18 and 21, with the female gender predominating. The percentage of condom use is 64% and 16.4% of university students have been affected by a sexually transmitted infection. We found a statistically significant association with age (p = 0.008), residence (p = 0.034), condom use [OR 0.175 (95% CI 0.059 - 0.513) p = 0.000], alcohol and drug use [OR 4.93 (95% CI 2.35 - 10.35) p = 0.000), the probability of acquiring an STI in their lifetime being 2 times higher. Conclusions: There is a high percentage of risk in the sexual practices of nursing students
