Item Alternativa estructural-constructiva de entrepisos y techos de hormigón armado con bloques de poliestireno expandido(2016) Avecillas Ríos, Diana Raquel; Navarro Campos, NelsonIn building processes the ceilings and mezzanines require a rigorous design and execution in order to meet the flexion requirements which are subject to. This study is motivated by the detected necessity to provide a structural-constructive alternative for the execution of ceilings and mezzanines in a safe, easy way with adequate prices and lower weights. In this study EPS, is applied as lightening material. These elements work building T sections with a flat bottom. Thus a structural-constructive solution for ceilings and mezzanines for buildings consisting of reinforced concrete and blocks or slabs of expanded polystyrene is provided. The model of this structural alternative was calculated both analytically and numerically. The first one according to the methods of structural analysis and design. Later, on the results were verified with a commercially known finite element (FEM) computational program like SAP2000. As a result rational solutions for structural design of ceilings and mezzanines of buildings, with special interest in social housing is given. Due to its wide demand and need for solutions that are rational, economically possible and provide the required safety. It takes into account the different spans, according to studies of the most usual dimensions of the premises of the building in its scope. The results suggest a structural-constructive alternative that is advantageous both technically and economically compared to traditional solutions applied.Item Comportamiento estructural de nudos con losas TT de sección constante y de sección variable, con luces de 6, 8, 10 y 12 metros(2015) Gallegos Yánez, Johanna Cristina; Zhirzhán Abad, Noemí Gissela; Navarro Campos, NelsonThe use of precast concrete elements in the construction of buildings as constructive system in Cuenca has been poor. Prefabricated elements have advantages such as reduce the time of assemblage and cost, improve quality and safety of structures. Different constructive technologies have been developed through prefabrication, but local application requires feasibility studies. However, it’s use is considered positive and convenient. Examples of favorable results in Cuenca are the underground parking at the Parque de La Madre and the School of Engineering of Universidad de Cuenca in Balzay. Even so, there is uncertainty in the structural behavior of connections between precast elements, making it necessary to address the structural analysis of TT slabs nodes. TT slabs of uniform cross section produce deficient nodes, causing discontinuity in the structure. In contrast, TT slabs of variable cross section produce rigid nodes and continuity. The purpose is determining the structural behavior of connections between the prefabricated elements, using software such as SAP2000, where the TT slabs will be modeled in varying cross section and length from 6m to 12m. This will provide information on the structural conditions that allow the application of TT slab variable section in construction. The results will contribute to a solution for the progress of construction in Cuenca and Ecuador, particularly for cases of connections Beam - TT Slab and Wall - TT Slab. In parallel, the application of tending to prefabrication and industrialization of construction in buildings such as prestressed concrete, feasible to implement in massive construction projects such as social housing, construction technologies is scarce. This study develops the constructive solution of beam-slab by the structural design of precast-prestressed beams manual assembly, to improve the construction of mezzanines and ceilings of social housing, being the most complex stage of executing in work. Based on the review of literature and social housing projects built in Ecuador, constructive solution adopted, which includes the application of prestressed concrete is described, ceilings and mezzanines used in social housing are characterized, setting the stage work of this study. Then, using hand tools and computational structural design calculation of the prestressed prefabricated beams it is performed by applying design standards and codes accepted by Ecuadorian law. The result obtained is a series of precast-prestressed beams, specifying its shape and dimensions. The process of manual assembly of beams in work also disclosed. In Cuenca, they occur in the prefabrication plant, Construcciones RFV, in Guayaquil, in the company MAVISA. In both cases, this prefabricated slab cross-section, whose supports would be an articulated scheme. The structural designer, director of this thesis, introduced the closed-end solution in Slabs TT in the design of the parking of Mother’s park. Two graduation thesis of this faculty show the advantage of the closed solution against open-ended. For this reason, this paper will examine the slope influence of the gusset of the end zones in the structural behavior of slabs for different lengths. Its scientific basis indicates a high practical and influence felt in the construction technology. The objective: determine the influence of the slope of the gusset at the ends of slabs TT, with range of values that maximizes stiffness in nodes. With the analysis of structural models and programs like SAP 2000, among others. Determining expected: optimum slopes of the gusset in the closed ends of the double T slabs and the optimum range of said slope for better structural behavior. The design and construction of these structures should use the optimum slope range found in this thesis, maximizing the rigidity of these unions.Item Influencia de las perlas de poliestireno expandido (EPS) en el peso y en la resistencia a comprensión del hormigón(2015) Lituma Vicuña, Mónica Cristina; Zhunio Cárdenas, Brigida Tatiana; Navarro Campos, NelsonIn recent years, the construction industry has been using new, alternative materials in lightweight concrete production. Lightweight concrete is lighter than normal weight concrete (sand, cement, coarse aggregate, and water), which reduce transportation and mounting costs. Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is a material used worldwide to reduce weight in concrete. Specifically, EPS beads are being used to replace both coarse and fine aggregates. The main objective of this graduation paper is to determinate the effects of replacing specific percentages of sand with expanded polystyrene beads on the weight (density) and compressive strength of concrete. An experimental design was developed to determine the sample size (number of cylinders) required to carry out the testing phase and to produce reliable and consistent results. After the cylinders were tested, the statistically processed results showed that the concrete’s weight (density) decreased due to the low density of EPS beads, and the compressive strength of the concrete decreased as the percentage of EPS substituted for sand increased. These results lead me to conclude that expanded polystyrene is a viable alternative for structural and non-structural lightweight concrete production.Item Investigación de las principales tecnologías constructivas de edificaciones utilizadas en la ciudad de Cuenca(2015) Loja Suconota, Martha Azucena; Navarro Campos, NelsonThere is carried out a bibliographical review of the main constructive technologies of buildings in reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete, the buildings we choose to study are located in Cuenca, and also are buildings in construction's process. Is done a pictures file, an interview to the technical staff, to determine the motives that stimulated the choice of certain technological variants of construction, special consideration takes to the Technologies of the Construction with elements prefabricated, in this case the factory is visited "Carrasco RFV Construcciones", to determine the elements that are made and that therefore are within reach of designers and builders. Finally every technological variant is evaluated, and general conclusion is that in the city of Cuenca the construction professionals of the buildings who are constructed and those in process of construction, in the main use a traditional method of construction, with independence of the specific type of formworks. For housings of small magnitude it is used formworks elaborated in situ, and for buildings of major importance Formwork’s Systems are used.
