Item Inteligencia emocional y funcionalidad familiar en adolescentes del Colegio de Bachillerato Ciudad de Cuenca, en el periodo 2022(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-02-01) Dutan Balladarez, Carlos Andres; Navarro Calderon, Mayra Alexandra; Ortiz Ochoa, William AlfredoCurrently, Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a highly studied topic within the field of Psychology. Salovey and Mayer (1997) mention that EI implies, among other things, the ability to perceive, assess, understand and express emotions accurately. It includes the ability to regulate emotions by promoting emotional and intellectual growth. The objective of this study was to describe the levels of emotional intelligence and family functionality in adolescents in the first year of high school at colegio Ciudad de Cuenca in 2022. The research was quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive in scope and cross-sectional. The population was distributed in 5 groups, 58% were women. The following instruments were used: the Wong Emotional Intelligence Scale and Law (WLEIS-S), a Spanish adaptation and validation carried out by Extremera et al. (2019) of the original WLEIS scale, and the familiar APGAR instrument by Gabriel Smilkstein (1978). The theoretical approach that served as the basis for the development of the research was the skills model of Salovey and Mayer (1997), and Salvador Minuchín´s systemic model. The results obtained reflected a predominance of the intrapersonal dimension and a high level of family dysfunction. The research sought that based on the results obtained, projects can be developed that favor optimal levels of emotional intelligence to strengthen development in the family, academic and social spheres.
